Crochet Milk Jug Cover with Figural Milk Jug

Makes a cover approximately 18cm in diameter.
Figural Milk Jug sits approximately 2.5cm high.

This pattern uses English / UK Terminology

Materials

No. 20 Crochet Cotton in Main Colour (MC)
No. 20 Crochet Cotton in Contrasting Colour (CC)
1.25mm crochet hook
56 glass beads
Needle for weaving in ends
Stitch Marker (optional)

Instructions - Figural Milk Jug

The milk jug is worked in the round, without joining. You may find it useful to place a stitch marker at the end of each row.

With MC - Form a magic loop.
1st Row: 3 ch (counts as first tr), 20 tr in loop. (21 tr)
2nd Row: 1 dc in 3rd of 3 ch, 1 dc in each of next 5 tr, (2 dc in tr, 1 dc in each of next 6 tr) twice, 2 dc in tr. (24 dc)
3rd Row: 1 dc in dc, (2 dc in dc, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc) 5 times, 2 dc in dc, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc. (30 dc)
4th Row: 2 dc in dc, 1 dc in each of next 28 dc, 2 dc in dc. (32 dc)
5th Row: 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, (2 dc in dc, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc) 5 times, 2 dc in dc, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc. (38 dc)
6th Row: 1 dc in each of next 7 dc, (2 dc in dc, 1 dc in each of next 11 dc) twice, 2 dc in dc, 1 dc in each of next 6 dc. (41 dc)
7th Row: 1 dc in each dc around.
8th Row: Repeat 7th Row. (41 dc)
9th Row: Repeat 7th Row. (41 dc)
10th Row: 1 dc in each of next 7 dc, (miss 1 dc, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc) 6 times, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc. (35 dc)
11th Row: Miss 1 dc, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, (miss 1 dc, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc) 6 times, miss 1 dc. (27 dc)
12th Row: Change to CC. 1 dc in each dc around. (27 dc)
13th Row: Repeat 10th Row. (27 dc)
14th Row: Change to MC. 1 dc in each of next 12 dc, (3 dc in next dc) 3 times, 1 dc in each of next 12 dc. (33 dc)
15th Row: 1 dc in each of next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 23 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc. (35 dc)
16th Row: 1 dc in each of next 18 dc, 3 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 16 dc. (37 dc)
17th Row: 1 dc in each of next 19 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 17 dc. ( 38 dc)
Make handle: 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, turn work upside down, 9 ch, ss to top of 11th Row, turn, 13 dc into 9ch loop, ss to top of handle.
18th Row: Change to CC. 1 dc in each dc around, ss to first dc. (38 dc) Fasten off.



Instructions - Milk Jug Cover

With MC - Form a magic loop.

2nd Row: 4 ch (counts as first tr & 1 ch), *(1 tr in next tr, 1 ch), repeat from * to end, ss to third of first 4 ch.
3rd Row: 5 ch (counts as first tr & 2 ch), *(miss 1 ch sp, 1 tr in next tr, 2ch), repeat from * to end, ss to third of first 5 ch, ss into 2 ch sp.
4th Row: 7 ch (counts as first tr & 4 ch), *(1 tr in next ch sp, 4 ch), repeat from * to end, replacing last 4 ch with 1 ch, 1 tr into third of first 7 ch, dc at same point.
5th Row: *(5 ch, 1 tr in next ch sp, 5 ch, 1 dc in next sp, 4 ch, 1 dc in next ch sp), repeat from * to end, replacing last 4 ch with 1 ch, 1 tr into base of first 5 ch, dc at same point.
6th Row: *(5 ch, 5 tr next ch sp, 1 tr in tr, 5 tr in next ch sp, 5 ch, 1 dc in next ch sp), repeat from * to end, replacing last 5 ch with 2 ch, 1 tr into base of first 5 ch, dc at same point.
7th Row: *(5ch, 1 dc in next ch sp, 5 ch, miss 1 tr, 1 tr in each of next 9 tr, 5 ch, dc in next ch sp), repeat from * to end, replacing last 5 ch with 2 ch, 1 tr into base of first 5 ch, dc at same point.

10th Row: *(5 ch, 1 dc in next ch sp, 5 ch, 1 tr in dc, (5 ch, 1 dc in next ch sp) twice, 5 ch, miss 1 tr, 1 tr in ech of next 3 tr, 5 ch, 1 dc in next ch sp) repeat from * to end, 5 ch, ss to base of first 5 ch, ss into next ch sp.
11th Row: 5 ch (counts as first dtr & 1 ch), 1 dtr in same ch sp, *(1 ch, 1 dtr, 1 ch, 1 dtr in next ch sp) 4 times, 1 ch, miss 1 tr, 1 dtr in tr, (1 ch, 1 dtr, 1 ch, 1 dtr in next ch sp) twice, repeat from * to end, 1 ch, ss to 4th of first 5 ch.
12th Row: Change to CC, 1 dc at same point, *(1 dc in 1 ch sp, 1 dc in dtr), repeat from * to end, dc in 1 ch sp, ss to first dc.
13th Row: Change to MC, 5 ch (counts as first dtr & 1 ch), *(miss 1 dc, 1 dtr in next dc, 1ch) 3 times, (1 dtr in next dc, 1 ch) twice, (miss 1 dc, 1 dtr in next dc, 1 ch) 3 times, (1 dtr in next dc, 1 ch) twice, (miss 1 dc, 1 dtr in next dc, 1 ch) 4 times, (1 dtr in next dc, 1 ch) twice, repeat from * to end, ss to 4th of first 5 ch, ss into 1 ch sp.
14th Row: 7 ch, (counts as first tr & 4 ch), *(miss 1 ch sp, 1 tr in next ch sp, 4 ch), repeat from * to end, replacing last 4 ch with 1 ch, 1 tr in 3rd of first 7 ch, dc at same point.
15th Row: 7 ch, *(1 dc in next ch sp, 7 ch), repeat from * to end, replacing last 7 ch with 3 ch, 1 dtr into base of first 7 ch, dc at same point.
16th Row: 7 ch, *(1 dc in next ch sp, 7 ch), repeat from * to end, ss to first dc. Fasten off.
Beading Row : Thread 56 glass beads onto yarn. Rejoin yarn in any 5 ch sp of 15th Row, dc at same point, *(10 ch, draw up a bead, dc in next ch sp), repeat from * to end, ss to base of first 10 ch. Fasten off. 
Weave in ends. Sew milk jug to centre of cover.
